Born out of weekly writing sessions during the pandemic, falllift is the collaborative project of Micah Cottingham and William Steven Hall. What began as a creative outlet soon evolved into a full-fledged band grounded in trust, balance, and a shared commitment to growth. Since their debut E.P. Sunday Sessions in 2022, falllift has released several singles, toured nationally and internationally, and earned multiple sync placements. Their music blends introspective storytelling with powerful sonic landscapes, addressing themes from personal growth to social justice. Their upcoming single, All Salt—featuring award-winning poet Bluz—is available everywhere November 2025, with a full-length album in the works. When not making music, falllift is rooted in community, nature, and their beloved dog, Lola.

On the last day of school, a history teacher's experimental lesson zaps four high school students into the spirits of America's Founding Fathers, forcing them to debate—and possibly rewrite—the Constitution. As the students embody figures like Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Patrick Henry, and James Madison, the classroom turns into a lively battleground over freedom of religion, the right to bear arms, the three-fifths compromise, and freedom of speech. The founders quickly discover these issues are as volatile today as they were in 1787.
With time running out and the students’ fates (and summer plans) hanging in the balance, the founders must navigate the lasting legacy of American ideals—all while dealing with TikToks and classroom cliques.
Produced by special arrangement with Gitelman & Good Publishers, Chicago.Directed by Lucy O’Brien.
This production at BMCA will be its world premiere!
The Steel Wheels have long been at home in the creative space between tradition and innovation, informed by the familiar sounds of the Virginia mountains where the band was formed, but always moving forward with insightful lyrics and an evolving sound. In 2005, Jay Lapp (vocals, guitars, mandolin) and Eric Brubaker (vocals, fiddle) joined lead singer Trent Wagler (guitar, banjo) in forming the band as a vehicle for Wagler’s songwriting. They released several albums under Wagler’s moniker, before officially adopting the The Steel Wheels name with the 2010 release of Red Wing. Quickly staking their claim as independent upstarts in the burgeoning Americana scene, The Steel Wheels followed up this release with three more self-produced albums in the next five years, before joining forces with producer Sam Kassirer for Wild As We Came Here (2017) and Over The Trees (2019). Kevin Garcia (drums, percussion, keys) joined in 2017, bringing a new level of sonic depth and polish to the outfit. Newest member Jeremy Darrow rounds out the rhythm section and grounds the band as they continue to explore deeply rooted yet fresh folk rock sounds. Having gained the experience of thousands of shows, festivals and many miles on the road, the stubbornly independent band has formed deep bonds with each other and the audience that sustains them.
