Bent Creek Community Park's Sixth Annual Shindig is on Saturday September 26th! This event is a celebration of community, offering live music all day, family friendly activities, and food for purchase. The Shindig raises funds to cover annual operating costs and upgrades to the park. This year, Bent Creek is celebrating the installation of BRAND NEW playground equipment, along with upgrades to the pump track, soccer fields, and the pavilion! Local bands The Late Shifters, Blue Ridge Betty, All Crawfish Go To Heaven, and Clouds of Delusion will keep the music going all day! Tickets are $10 for adults, and Free for kids 10 and under.

Saltire Gallerie is proudly in partnership with the Scottish Cultural Organization of the Triangle to produce the An Evening at the Hogg House event. This year’s highlights include Scottish highland dance performances, traditional games, iconic food, serene 19th/20th century Scottish and British fine art, paintings of Outlander scenes, and the Outlander costume exhibit! The exhibit will feature one of the main character’s most recognized dresses, the white dress Claire wore while on her journey through the stones, beginning the romantic tale of two worlds. Also featured in this exhibit are Jamie Fraser’s Continental Soldier costume, worn during the scenes of the Battle of Monmouth during the Revolutionary War, and other costumes from the popular series. In addition, art pieces from Outlander’s production team and local artists will be on display. If you love Outlander, you do not want to miss this!
LIMITED PATIO SEATING IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVE Kyley Byrd and the High Mountain Flyers Kyley Byrd is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist familiar to the Asheville music scene for two decades. Her sultry voice delivers a variety of musical styles with honest and heartfelt energy. Kyley is joined by the High Mountain Flyers (the “High MF’ers”). On guitar, Mark Fuller, lead, and Mark Chester on rhythm guitar. Joined by JD Smith on electric bass. All three MF’ers are vocalists and songwriters as well. With pleasant harmonies and a laid back approach, Kyley and the band perform a mix of original songs and cover songs with their own unique style and personality.
Embrace your nocturnal side at Grandfather Mountain through Creatures of the Night and Bonfire Delight, the park’s after-hours program where guests enjoy rare after-dark tours, fireside tales and a chance to meet the park’s nighttime residents. Tickets for this event go on sale online on Grandfather Mountain’s website Aug. 3 at 10 a.m. Advance registration required.

Modelface Comedy Club brings the best comedians from all over the country to Asheville. We are so excited to welcome back Joe Zimmerman to The Grey Eagle!
Known for his inventive writing style and playful persona, Joe grew up in Morgantown, West Virginia, and started his comedy career in North Carolina after graduating Davidson College. In 2012, he moved to New York City, which quickly led to appearances on The Late Late Show and John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show, and his resume has since grown to include The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Conan on TBS, Last Comic Standing, his own Comedy Central Half Hour.
Joe’s first solo album Smiling at Wolves reached number two on iTunes, and Paste Magazine named him one of 10 best comedians from the south. His second album, Innocence, is played regularly on Sirius XM radio, and in 2019 he recorded a Dry Bar special with 1.5 million views on YouTube.
His first one-hour special, Cult Classic, came out on Hulu in 2023. It was directed by Nate Bargatze, filmed live at The Grey Eagle in Asheville, and The Comedy Bureau called it “one of the best specials of the year”.
Joe is also a writer, having contributed humor pieces to The New Yorker and The New York Times.
A Evening of Music and Storytelling
Michael Reno Harrell is an award winning songwriter, a published author, a nationally known storyteller and visual artist. He’s from the Southern Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina where all those things are as much a part of life as breathing. Michael’s talents have taken him to forty-four states and several foreign countries over his over fifty plus year career.
His work is based on life experiences that reflect the culture of his mountain roots, which go back eight generations. Michael’s stories, songs and artworks reflect not only the southern experience, but also American’s story.
