  • The Garrett Boys — brothers Stephen and Russell Garrett, joined by Stephen’s son, Carter – hail from Overton County in East Tennessee, on land that’s been in their family for generations (Carter’s being the ninth) Produced by Ray Kennedy (Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams), It Runs Deep contains elements of bluegrass, folk, and country, and is, as Stephen says, “an album about the sound of our land and the song of its people.” The Garrett Boys will be live in Studio B next Tuesday the 31st at 4pm!
  • We wrap up International Women’s Month with two great new releases to spotlight. Monday’s is this Canadian alt-folk artist, who is making her Concord Records debut. They describe their latest addition to their roster as the rockabilly grit of contemporaries like Sierra Ferrell, The Deslondes, or Nick Shoulders, meets the vulnerable, folk rock volatility of Big Thief or Angel Olsen.
  • We’ve loved getting to know singer/songwriter/bassist Melissa Carper these last few years, through her solo work and collaborations with various others, including the fun groups the Wonder Women of Country and Sad Daddy. This time, she’s introduced us to Paris, France native Theo Lawrence, who comes from a variety of musical backgrounds but has really dialed in that classic swing and country duet sound with Carper ever since the two met in Austin.
  • Luke “Seamlessly melds Delta blues, gospel and jazz themes with personal, simplified lyrics that speak to his personal and artistic evolution.” — The New York Times
  • Have you heard Alexis P. Suter’s amazingly powerful, wonderfully soulful voice? She and her band performed one night in 2011 at The Falcon in Marlboro, New York, and that recording has just been polished up and released. The power trio of guitarist Jimmy Bennett, drummer Ray Grappone, and bassist Peter Bennett lay down the groove like a heavy-duty Rhythm and Blues machine, and vocalist Vicki Bell rounds out the group. Garth Hudson, the legendary keyboardist for The Band, joined them throughout this performance, and they release this recording in tribute to him, a year after his passing.
  • It almost sounds like an April Fool’s prank to proclaim a new album of 23 tracks from this fun swing revival band that we haven’t heard of in a while, but this is real! They’re celebrating the 30th anniversary of their platinum-selling Hot album with this one, released by the Music Maker Foundation.
  • Soul singer Marc Broussard has embarked on a blues-based album this time, and his first one of all original material. Broussard’s tour includes shows in Charlotte on April 26th, and Knoxville April 29th.
  • These three acoustic blues masters first met at the 1996 Chicago Blues Festival, and collaborated on their True Blues project in 2013. They’re back with this collection that includes reworkings of Elizabeth Cotton, Charley Patton, and Fred McDowell, plus a number of new originals from the three.
  • The centennial anniversary of B.B. King and Lucille is certainly worth celebrating big time! The King was born in September of 1925, and when Joe Bonamassa realized there hadn’t been a tribute big enough to match his impact on the blues world, he helped assemble this 32-track collection of over 50 artists, including Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Eric Clapton, Keb’ Mo’, Marc Broussard, Shemekia Copeland, Marcus King, and of course the great Buddy Guy.
  • It’s a live album from Sara Watkins, Sarah Jarosz, and Aoife O’Donovan capturing highlights from their 2025 tour for their Grammy-winning Wild and Clear and Blue album, from shows in Atlanta, Toronto, Charleston, and a few other cities.
