  • This 3rd comprehensive volume, produced by Young, includes the period in his career that included the release of several classic albums including Comes A Time, Rust Never Sleeps, Live Rust and Trans. Spanning 11 years (1976-1987), this Archives box set covers more years, and includes more music and video than the previous two volumes in the Archives series. The largest of versions comprises 22 discs… We’ll stick with the best of the previously unreleased material, OK? It’s phenomenal!
  • Originally from Rhode Island, David Olney moved to Nashville in the early 1970s and fell in with a group of legendary songwriters including Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Rodney Crowell, John Hiatt, and Steve Earle. He toured tirelessly with his rock band the X-Rays and gave a particularly memorable performance on Austin City Limits in 1982. Olney went on to release a string of brilliant albums and his songs were recorded by Linda Ronstadt, Del McCoury, Emmylou Harris, and many more. He died, while performing on stage, in 2020. This wonderful 17-song tribute includes new covers by Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, Janis Ian, Jimmy Dale Gilmore, The McCrary Sisters, Dave Alvin, Mary Gauthier, Buddy Miller, Jim Lauderdale, The Steeldrivers, and more. It also features the first new recording from Willis Alan Ramsey since the release of his 1972 cult classic debut album.
  • We are so impressed with not only the size of this wonderful new compilation (136 tracks), but the speed with which it was assembled. A number of North Carolinians and others rallied to make this available in the days following Tropical Storm Helene’s horrendous destruction in our region. The collection of previously unreleased material includes performances by Drive By Truckers, Sylvan Esso, Watchhouse, Iron & Wine, REM, and Waxahatchee. 100% of proceeds from each $10 purchase will be split evenly between the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, Rural Organizing and Resilience (ROAR), and BeLoved Asheville. https://cardinalsatthewindow.bandcamp.com/album/cardinals-at-the-window-2
  • As we continue to grieve and recover and rebuild from Tropical Storm Helene, let’s continue to celebrate and support the many musicians from our area. Among our favorites are these guys from Brevard, Asheville, and Saluda. After a dozen or so albums of theirs going back to 2001, it’s about time they released a full live album of their great material, right? Well, here’s a double-album, recorded last September in Wilmington, NC. Chief songwriters here are Graham Sharp and Aaron Burdett, with each of them shining with their talents. Hearing them live is hearing them at their absolute best. It’s no surprise to us why Rolling Stones considers them “one of the most sought-after groups in Americana, bluegrass, and indie-folk.” This album was mixed in Asheville at Citizen Vinyl Studios; a video about the process is here: https://steepcanyonrangers.bandcamp.com/album/live-at-greenfield-lake
  • We’ve got the follow-up to this young San Diego band’s 2022 debut. They may be young, but they’ve captured the sound of early ‘60s Soul and R&B impeccably. They filled their new Daptone Records release with immortal grooves, classic vocal harmonies, and sincere, heartfelt lyrics about love and loss—the persistent feelings.
  • For his latest album, singer/songwriter Paul Kelly is focused on the familiar topic of love – the fire of love, the pain of love, love for the family, and love of a memory and place. Taken from a line in Shakespeare’s Sonnet 147, Fever Longing Still is Kelly’s first set of new original material since 2018’s Nature. Fellow Australian Kasey Chambers says, “If I were only allowed to listen to one artist for the rest of my life, I would choose Paul Kelly.”
  • Recorded at Peter Gabriel’s iconic Real World Studios and produced, arranged and mixed by Glen Scott, this new one from three-time Grammy nominee and folk/blues Troubadour Eric Bibb features Bibb and Robbie McIntosh on a wide variety of guitars, plus assorted other stringed instruments. Standout tracks include “Everybody’s Got a Right”, “Make a Change”, “Roll On Buddy”.
  • After announcing his departure from the Steep Canyon Rangers a couple years ago to spend less time on the road and more time with family, Woody is now ready to release his first debut! "I was ready for a break from the road, but not necessarily from music....Naturally, on my first record, I returned to my roots for a straight-ahead bluegrass project." He’s got some other familiar Brevard/Western NC musicians joining him on these tracks, like Bennett Sullivan on banjo, Daren Shumaker on mandolin, and Casey Driessen on fiddle. The bassist is Alison Krauss & Union Station’s Barry Bales. Then there are other great guests here, like Del McCoury, Tim O’Brien, and Woody’s wife Shannon Whitworth. Their Oct. 11th album release show, by the way, was turned into a relief effort fundraiser for “Rescue Carolina”; details here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/rescue-carolina?fbclid=IwY2xjawF2MX5leHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHd9pHr0r8RwayjwAvV3a9T8wrKcqcuxGTR8lL1XLjsP-Qv0wF_PSBI3lMA_aem_IlKK_HDRLMafaMOFTh6OYg
  • It’s his first album in six years for this somewhat reclusive New England singer/songwriter, and the first on his own Liula Records label. Black Mountain’s own Seth Kaufman, of Floating Action fame, served as multi-instrumentalist, co-producer, and mixer/engineer! Also present are Laura Rogers and Lydia Slagle, a.k.a. The Secret Sisters. The lead-off track is one of the most inspiring new songs as we recover from Hurricane Helene: “Step Into Your Power”.
  • On this one, McPherson wanted to take the inspiration from multiple decades and styles and incorporate them into his own sound. “The initial idea for the record was: It’s like if The late-60s Ventures were the session band on the first New Order record.” “One of the great classic-minded rock ‘n’ roll singer-songwriters of the modern age.” - Variety
