Asheville Plays is thrilled to announce the return of the 14th Annual Haunted Trail, Asheville's favorite family-friendly Halloween tradition! Designed with families in mind (recommended for ages 3–12), the Haunted Trail combines immersive sets, live performers, and interactive storytelling to create a memorable Halloween experience that is spooky, quirky, and fun without relying on physical contact or gore. The Adventure Center of Asheville is the host of this one of a kind live outdoor theatrical experience. A special Sweet Peek Tour is offered nightly at 6:30 PM, allowing younger guests to experience the trail without actors before deciding if they'd like to enjoy the full show. Visitors can also explore Pirates Cove from 6-9 pm, featuring a 30-foot Pirate Ship Escape Room, live mermaid encounters, and pirate-themed activities. Reserve your 10 minute escape game upon arr-rival as the games book up quickly! The fun doesn't stop there. Guests ages 4 and older can explore The Adventure Centers glowing aerial adventure courses illuminated with thousands of colorful lights and lasers. Combo tickets for both attractions are available online and are expected to sell out in advance. The Haunted Trail does not sell out, but the entrance closes at 9:00 PM. Beyond the attractions, guests can enjoy a lively festival tent complete with local vendors, a lil ghouls play area, brews and beverages of all kinds, and hot & delicious Mellow Mushroom pizza. Asheville Plays is proud to continue its partnership with MANNA FoodBank through the Boo to Hunger program. Every Haunted Trail admission helps provide 4 meals for neighbors facing food insecurity. Additionally, $1 from every adult beverage sold will go to Camp Lakey Gap. Guests can enjoy live music on Friday nights at the Haunted Trail from the Asheville Rock Academy Kids Band. Celebrate the season with HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR, Western Piedmont Symphony’s beloved annual holiday tradition. Featuring festive favorites, heartwarming classics, and joyful musical surprises, this Foothills Pops concert captures the spirit of the season for audiences of all ages. Guitarist Matt Sickels joins the orchestra for an electrifying tribute to the music of Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Additional guest artists to be announced.

SOUTHERN CULTURE ON THE SKIDS

Southern Culture On The Skids has been consistently recording and touring around the world since 1983. The band (Rick Miller – guitar and vocals, Mary Huff – bass and vocals, Dave Hartman – drums) has been playing together for over 30 years. Their musical journey has taken them from all-night North Carolina house parties to late night TV talk shows (Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show), from performing at the base of Mt. Fuji in Japan to rockin’ out for the inmates at North Carolina correctional facilities. They’ve shared a stage with many musical luminaries including Link Wray, Loretta Lynn, Hasil Adkins and Patti Smith. Their music has been featured in movies and TV, parodied by Weird Al, and used to sell everything from diamonds to pork sausage. In 2014 the band was honored by the Southern Folklife Collection at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill with an exhibition featuring their music and cultural contributions. Their legendary live shows are a testament to the therapeutic powers of foot-stomping, butt-shaking rock and roll and what Rolling Stone dubbed “a hell raising rock and roll party.”

At Home with Southern Culture on the Skids is the latest full length album from the band and was released in March of 2021. It was recorded during the stay at home period of the pandemic when the band was at home and not touring. The album consists of 11 tracks recorded and mixed in Rick Miller’s living room with some additional tracks recorded at his studio, The Kudzu Ranch.

The first radio single off the album is “Run Baby Run”—a rocking number with deep garage roots. SCOTS bassist Mary Huff provides an urgent vocal while the band pulls back the throttle on a full race fuzz fest—cause she’s gotta to go fast! Run Baby Run!

The other songs on the album are a combination of the band’s unique mix of musical genres: rock and roll, surf, folk and country—all a bit off-center, what Rick proudly calls “our wobbly Americana”. Rick goes on, “We put a few more acoustic guitars on this one, as you would expect if you recorded in your living room, but it still rocks like SCOTS. So put your headphones on, get in your favorite chair/sofa/recliner, put on “At Home With” and let’s hang out for a while.”

Greer Farmers Market Presents 2-Day Christmas Festival at Greer City Park

Greer, SC – The Greer Farmers Market, in partnership with the City of Greer, is proud to present its annual Christmas Market on Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the beautiful Greer City Park (301 E Poinsett St, Greer, SC 29651).
This beloved two-day holiday festival will feature over 65 farmers, makers, and bakers, as well as local food trucks, live music, and children’s activities. Families and friends are invited to shop for unique holiday gifts, enjoy festive treats, and celebrate the season in the heart of Downtown Greer.
Children's activities include crafts, bounce house (weather permitting), and free $5 produce vouchers for kids through our POP Club Programs.
Set against the backdrop of Greer City Park’s 12-acre tree canopy, the market offers visitors paved sidewalks, a playground, fountains, open fields, shuttle service, and convenient amenities including restrooms. Guests can enjoy the festive atmosphere while supporting local businesses and farmers.

About the Greer Farmers Market
Since its founding in 2015, the Greer Farmers Market has grown from a small gathering of 10 vendors on Trade Street to a thriving non-profit 501(c)(3) organization hosting year-round events at Greer City Park. Today, the market regularly features over 70 vendors and welcomes more than 2,000 attendees at peak events. Seasonal markets are held weekly from May through August and monthly from September through April, culminating in the annual 2-day Christmas Festival.
The Market serves a diverse community of shoppers—young families, professionals, and seniors alike—while staying true to its mission: to support local farmers, bakers, and hand-made businesses by providing an accessible platform to sell in-season goods directly to Greer residents and visitors. Every first and third Saturday monthly from April through November, 11am to 5pm, we will be hosting our eclectic market featuring local goods and services, as well as, musicians and demos. This is a block party of sorts! Some items are, but not limited to, are handmade items, soaps, teas and coffees, vintage clothing, records and vintage media, jewelry, illustrations and graphic arts, toys, books, odds and ends, rare finds, oddities, and much more!

The Weirdo Arts & Community Flea Market is back in full effect starting May 2 11am-4pm, at Poe West Greenville! 556 Perry Ave. Sponsored by @sixandtwenty distillery! This will be our second year at the Poe West development in the Village Arts District of West Greenville. Every first Saturday of the month, May-December, (no market July) there will be over 75 unique local vendors of all types set up showcasing their items for sale. We will also have live music from fun local bands. And if you’re hungry, Fermetery Mobile Kitchen will be serving pizza, salads and pickles. (These are the same chefs that owned Carolina Bauernhaus, same delicious pizza you remember!) Grab a drink from Six & Twenty Distillery, Unlocked Coffee and grab a dessert from La Rue Chocolate!
