A fearless storyteller with an unshakable sense of self, Alana Springsteen has built her career on telling the truth, no matter how messy or hard-fought. Across high-concept projects like her three- part debut album TWENTY SOMETHING and highly awaited sophomore LP I HOPE THIS HELPS (a boldly autobiographical body of work due out May 29), the 25-year-old artist songwriter has carved out a vital space for raw catharsis and unfiltered reflection. A multi-instrumentalist with uncompromising vision, Springsteen plays guitar and piano throughout her albums and co-produces all her material, shaping each song with a hands-on precision that underscores her identity as both author and architect. Rooted in Country but unbound by its edges, she pulls freely from Alt-Pop and beyond, building a sonic world as expansive as it is emotionally exacting. NICK SHOULDERS
Refugia Blues, the fifth album from songwriter Nick Shoulders, is a record of big ideas and small, intimate moments. Rooted in the acoustic stylings of Southern traditional music, it finds the Arkansas native turning off his amp and stepping up to a ribbon microphone as a solo performer, singing in a voice that’s equal parts country croon, Appalachian yodel, and high-lonesome field holler. Shoulders’ interpretation of American roots music has always been more progressive and punky than the trucks-and-beers conservatism that passes for modern-day country, and Refugia Blues offers songs about climate collapse, radical anthropology, and generative disruption. It balances the macro with the micro, too, making room for love songs and personal topics, packaging humor alongside heavy insights. At once academic and accessible, Refugia Blues isn’t just a deep dive into southernness, but also into Shoulders himself. This is a raw, resolute version of American country music, stacked high with songs that go down easy but linger in the minds of those willing to invest the time.

This class focuses on the basics of my technique for drawing on metal with colored pencils. Learn to add color and excitement to your work with my special technique. During this class you should finish at least one pendant of your own design and several sample pieces.
