Join Us in the intimate 78 seat Tina McGuire theater for an Hawaiian Christmas!

CarolinAloha is the fusion of three deep passions: the mountains, the ocean, and music. Created by master slide guitarist Billy Cardine, the project draws rich inspiration from the timeless beauty of Hawaiian music.

Cardine has been recognized as a slide guitar pioneer, taking the dobro into unchartered musical genres. His distinct voice on all things slide has led him to collaborations with Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, world-renowned bassist Edgar Meyer in Porous Borders of Music and alongside Jerry Douglas on Southern Filibuster. His unique slide work spans a wide spectrum of genres—from gypsy jazz to bluegrass—and has taken him across North America, Europe, and Asia. He has played legendary stages including Carnegie Hall, The Ryman Auditorium, The Grand Ole Opry, MerleFest, Bonnaroo, and RockyGrass, among many others.

CarolinAloha has been featured at esteemed venues and festivals such as the Waikiki Steel Guitar Festival (Oʻahu), the Kona Steel Guitar Festival (Kona), and The Station Inn in Nashville, TN.

With a rotating cast of exceptional, expressive, and joyful musicians, CarolinAloha brings the warmth and soul of Hawaiian-inspired music to the mountains of North Carolina—and far beyond. He will be joined by the UNC Asheville Director of Jazz Studies, Dr. William Bares on piano, Mary Lucey on bass and vocals and Landon Lush on ukelele.

Cocktail table seating upfront is available as well a bar for refreshments located in the theater.

Every first and Thursday of the month, we welcome all old time musicians to come hang out and play at Leveller! This is an intermediate level jam, and we'll make sure there's always a lead fiddler present. Players are, of course, welcome a couple of rounds on the house.

Mark your calendars — December 5, 2025, through January 5, 2026 — the beloved Deck the Trees holiday tradition is back, bigger and brighter than ever!

Now celebrating 15 years, Deck the Trees will once again bring holiday wonder to Black Mountain and Swannanoa, all for a great cause. This cherished fundraiser benefits the Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry (SVCM) Fuel Fund, which helps neighbors in need to keep their homes warm during winter.

This year’s theme, “Christmas in Music & Song,” will inspire more than 50 beautifully decorated trees across town. You’ll find many of them at Peri Social House, Tyson Furniture Company, and White Horse Black Mountain, plus dozens of other local businesses decked out for the season.

How It Works:
From December 5 to January 5, you can vote for your favorite tree(s) by donating $1 per vote. Vote as many times as you’d like. Every dollar goes directly to the SVCM Fuel Fund. Voting is easy:
-Scan the QR code at each tree to donate online
-Or drop cash or checks in the donation box next to the tree (Online donations encouraged)

Can’t Visit in Person?
A full list of locations — plus photos of every tree — will be posted soon on the SVCM Deck the Trees website so you can vote from anywhere.

Celebrate the magic of the season at the 5th Annual Winter Wonder Walk—an enchanting outdoor story experience where live theater meets a whimsical walk through the woods! Created by Asheville Plays and hosted by the Adventure Center of Asheville, this immersive journey guides guests through the Kingdom of Winterland, where each page of the story comes to life with delightful characters and heartwarming surprises. This family-friendly event has been created with everyone in minde, no matter your age or what you may celebrate during the winter holiday season. Winter Wonder Walk includes the outdoor storywalk, a heated holiday tent featuring a local vendor market, a kids’ play area, and several tasty concession and beverage options. Guests ages 4+ can also enjoy the Treetops Adventure Park Glow Trail, aglow with thousands of twinkling lights. Every ticket purchased helps spread joy even further—each one supports MANNA FoodBank and their mission to feed our community.Kids 12 and younger can earn a free general admission ticket by participating in our “S'Mitten With Books” reading program! Bundle up and bring the whole family—it’s the perfect way to make magical memories and give back this holiday season!
