This musical doesn’t just dance, it dazzles! Set to the anthems that defined a generation — “Holding Out for a Hero,” “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” “Almost Paradise,” and of course “Footloose” — this show is sure to kick off an electrifying summer.

Dancing is not a crime…except in Bomont, Texas. Then Ren McCormack rolls in, all city swagger, restless energy, and a heartbeat too loud to ignore, which catches the eye of the preacher’s daughter with a wild streak of her own.

When Ren’s beat hits, the quiet cracks, the pulse quickens, and the town just can’t stand still. What begins as rebellion becomes revival, grief gives way to groove, and a community reclaims its rhythm.

JESSE JAMES DECONTO (THE PINKERTON RAID)

Leading up to Independence Day, The Pinkerton Raid’s songwriter Jesse James DeConto will release “The Fight for Freedom was in VOGUE,” about Lee Miller, Solange D’Ayen and the Parisian artists who stood up to the Nazi occupation in the ways they knew how. “VOGUE” is among a series of narrative-driven resistance singles from his upcoming full-length album, IF YOU LOVE SOMEBODY, TELL THEM, singing his story as a dad trying to hold onto hope and imagine a future for his kids in the face of American fascism and climate catastrophe. Back home in Durham, NC, with partners like Indivisible, Jesse often leads singalongs of classic protest songs from Bob Dylan, NENA, Neil Young, 4 Non-Blondes, Crowded House and others. “The sane response to tyrants is to sing,” Jesse says on “VOGUE,” inspired by a famous quote by revolutionary painter Pablo Picasso. On Wednesday, July 1, he’ll bringing his “protest songs with Big Dad Energy” to the Grey Eagle patio in Asheville’s River Arts District.

The 30th Annual Upstate Shakespeare Festival in beautiful Falls Park in downtown Greenville, SC features A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM opening May 21st, 2026 and runs through June 21st, followed by THE TWO NOBLE KINSMEN running July 9th – 25th. This is not your English teacher's Shakespeare! Bring your dog, your kids, your cousin's wife's best friend, or a bottle of wine and a picnic basket. Admission is free and open to the public, and donations are greatly appreciated. Performances are Thursdays - Sundays at 7pm and run approximately 90 minutes with no intermission, weather permitting.

The Jazz Showcase is curated by esteemed pianist, scholar, and UNC Asheville music professor Dr. Bill Bares; this showcase series is dedicated to bringing the region’s finest jazz musicians and most compelling sounds to our stage in a true listening room experience.

Disclaimer Comedy has been producing comedy shows in Asheville for over a decade. Bringing in the likes of Rory Scovel, Hannibal Burress, Tom Segura, and more. But, The Disclaimer's Pride and Joy has always been "The Disclaimer Stand Up Lounge Comedy Open-Mic". A sign up, go up open mic. With a wild roster of Asheville comics, Traveling comics, FIRST TIMERS, comics on Netflix, Comedy Central, Dry Bar, Don't tell, to comics who have probably been on COPS a few times. It's a real grab bag variety show, and home to a lot of talented creators in the southeast.

Join our intercultural summer day camps where children 6-12 years old explore music creation, international dance, music instrument building, and other forms of art in a joyful and supportive environment. Each child receives personal attention and a meaningful creative experience.

The word craft-itarianism was coined by 2026 Center for Craft Curatorial Fellow Alyssa Velazquez to name artistic projects that generate employment, raise awareness, or offer therapeutic support through craft. These programs provide a space where people affected by addiction, incarceration, and gun violence can find solidarity while learning a skill.

Craft-itarianism: Community Action Through Craft celebrates nonprofits and artists who believe in—and actively practice—the power of craft to support and empower individuals and communities.

This exhibition was curated by 2026 Center for Craft Curatorial Fellow Alyssa Velazquez. Launched in 2017, the Curatorial Fellowship supports emerging curators exploring new ideas about craft with mentorship, professional development, and a $5,000 honorarium to realize an exhibition.
