"We're covering a lot of territory this week, from Smith County Texas all the way to Paris, France," said Kim Clark.

Studio B rewind Host Kim Clark says we'll be covering a lot of territory on the next Studio B Rewind, from Smith County Texas all the way to Paris, France. "Representing the Lonestar State is exuberant bluesman Sugaray Rayford, who was here with his band back in May to play songs from the group's new album Somebody Save Me," said Clark.

Born in Paris and raised in Fontainebleau, the home of Impressionism and Django Reinhardt, French guitarist Stephane Wrembel absorbed the great Gypsy jazz tradition through deep immersion of both the masters' techniques and the vibrant Gypsy culture. But his longtime love for Pink Floyd and other styles also winds its way into his work, as we'll hear when he returns to WNCW before his show Tuesday night in Asheville. The Stephane Wrembel Band includes long-time collaborators Thor Jensen (guitar), Ari Folman Cohen (bass), and Nick Anderson (drums).

We'll delve into the music of two very different masters of the guitar - Django Rhinehart and Etta Baker. Stephane Wrembel brought the spirit of Django Rhinehardt into our studio a couple of weeks ago when he was in the area for the Django birthday party celebration in Asheville, NC and in 2008, Ernie Hawkins with Scott Ainsley stopped in on their way to a concert honoring Etta Baker in her hometown of Morganton, NC. We'll listen to these very talented musicians reflect on the work of the masters, and hear some fantastic guitar work as well.
