Live Thursday, August 1st between 3 & 4pm: Rich Mahan

Jul 27, 2019

Rich Mahan blends "outlaw country" and rock, and has a lot of fun with it. You can tell he likes to have fun, with songs like "Daydrinking" "Stoned as a Roman Slave" and "Hippie in the City." And, you can tell the California native has found his natural home in Nasheville, with the naming of his new release "Hot Chicken Wisdom," and his previous one "Blame Bobby Bare." Rich and band play The Salvage Station in Asheville, NC Thursday, and Barley's Taproom in Knoxville Friday.

It's hard to believe... Cosmic has turned ten years old. Thanks to the hard work of host Brad Watson, who came up with the concept in 2009, and the fans who have flocked to the airwaves on Friday night to get their Cosmic American Show fix, it's become one of WNCW's most popular programs.

The Fritz

On Sunday, Kim Clark has a hip-shaking session lined up for us with the soul driven, rock/jazz band The Fritz. The group played live in Studio B this past October just as the band was releasing its Echo EP. Plus, our host reached way back into the WNCW archives to present us with another classic session from Studio B - this one features the legendary keyboardist Ike Stubblefield and drummer Jeff Sipe in a session from 2010. Studio B Rewind, every Sunday at 7pm, with Host Kim Clark, right here on listener-supported, grassroots radio, WNCW.

Soul/rock/dance band The Fritz settled in Asheville in 2011, after forming in college in Florida. They have a new EP out Friday, and a show in Asheville Saturday night the 13th, and we're glad to have them serve up a funky, soulful lunch in Studio B  on Wednesday. Check out this new video of theirs here.
