Live Friday, November 15th between 1 & 2pm: Young Mister

Nov 11, 2019

We had no idea who Young Mister was when we got his new CD "Sudden Swoon" a few weeks ago, but were instantly impressed with the songs and their arrangements from the first listen. Turns out he's Steven Fiore of Tryon, who had an 8-year stint writing for Universal Music Publishing Group, collaborations with artists including Art Garfunkel and Courtney Marie Andrews, and what sounds like a terrific home studio where this was recorded! He performs a solo session here Friday afternoon before a show Saturday night in Tryon, and a number of other cities throughout the South this month.

This East Nashville songwriter (formerly from NJ and VA) confronts a number of topics with wisdom and humor on his new album Talking Dogs & Atom Bombs. “I try to write things that make me chuckle, and that chuckling is usually making peace with the existential dilemma of both the times and life in general,” Bradbury says. He visits with Martin in Studio B Friday morning in between shows at the Grey Eagle in Asheville Thursday night, and the Evening Muse in Charlotte Friday night.

We have joined a growing number of big fans of Louisiana singer/songwriter Dylan LeBlanc, especially since his 2016 album "Cautionary Tale." His 4th and latest release Renegade is only increasing his popularity, and we are eager to welcome him back to Studio B before he heads up to Asheville, NC for a show at The Mothlight.

This Alabama native sure has a lot of the Nashville scene that we love backing her up: from regular appearances at the legendary Bluebird Cafe songwriters-in-the-round series, to greats like Kenny Vaughan & the other Fabulous Superlatives, and Chris Scruggs adding to her 2019 release MECO. Get to know her, and stories about Nashville, her fascination with space travel, and more when she visits us before her show at Isis Music Hall in West Asheville, NC Wednesday evening.

Live Friday, October 4th between 3 & 4pm: Front Country

Oct 2, 2019

The "string-band pop" of Front Country fits a niche that is appealing to fans of both bluegrass, and the modern soul and rock acts we enjoy playing. Melody Walker, Adam Roszkiewicz, Jacob Groopman, & Jeremy Darrow return to Studio B before their Friday show at Pisgah Brewing Company.  "As exciting a band on stage as they are in the studio, Front Country stands strong and tall in today's American roots music scene." -Woody Platt, Steep Canyon Rangers

The United Kingdom's new "Queen of Country Soul" has got to be Miss Yola! Get to know her as she talks about hearing Aretha Franklin for the first time, working with Dan Auerbach, & more. WNCW's Martin Anderson attended the 20th annual AmericanaFest in Nashville, and recorded interviews with her and other artists we love playing.

Wednesday, September 25th just past 11am: Yola

Sep 20, 2019

The UK's new "Queen of Country Soul" has got to be Miss Yola! Get to know her as she talks about hearing Aretha Franklin for the first time, working with Dan Auerbach, & more. WNCW's Martin Anderson attended the 20th annual AmericanaFest in Nashville, and recorded interviews with her and other artists we love playing. We'll hear a couple of new recordings from her too, from Sound Stage Studios there.

Life Like Water is the brainchild of David Matters, with bandmates Megan Drollinger and Charles Furtado, all of whom call Asheville home. Listen for some intriguing African and Middle Eastern influences in this folk/newgrass trio's sound. They played Sunday the 15th at Bold Rock Hard Cider in Mills River.
