the grey eagle

Tune in as we welcome two of our all-time favorite songwriters to Studio B, for a song swap in advance of their Asheville show Friday night. The Grey Eagle concert is a fundraiser for Beloved Asheville, which provides opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds to use their voices, skills and unique gifts to transform their lives and communities.

Neyla Pekarak
Andrew Kelly

The cellist, vocalist, and pianist for The Lumineers is currently on tour for her solo project Rattlesnake, about an eccentric Colorado sharpshooter who had a run-in with rattlesnakes in the 1920's. A self-described "super-nerd", Neyla says “Even in my introduction to the Lumineers, I had listened to so little mainstream music at that point in my life. I was really into musical theater and vocal jazz and things that weren’t necessarily cool. I’ve definitely felt like an impostor most of the time." She'll be in good company with us here!

Jay Nash & Josh Day are The Contenders, an Americana band working the troubadour life hard this year. (Josh, by the way, is from Wilkesboro!) They play the Grey Eagle in Asheville Wednesday, the Evening Muse in Charlotte Thursday, and the 1915 in Wilkesboro on Friday.

Vickie Burick

One of Brevard's favorite singer/songwriters returns to WNCW, this time with an Army of Love! Laura Blackley, Jane Kramer, Alexa Rose, Mike Guggino, & Mike Ashworth will join him for the session, in advance of their concert at the Grey Eagle in Asheville on Sunday the 9th, with numerous others regional favorites of ours. WNCW is extremely proud to be a Media Sponsor of this event. Check out this video about it.

"Penetrative & excitingly melodic ... Intimate literate lyrics & velvet vocals," says Rolling Stone about Clarence, and we agree. This prolific singer/songwriter originally from Ohio consistently delivers quality albums, and this year's Passionate Kind is no exception. He plays The Grey Eagle in Asheville Tuesday night.
