A message for WNCW friends, fans, listeners and musicians: Beginning today, April 16, WNCW will be giving shout outs, free of charge, to our musicians who are streaming live music.

Folks worldwide are looking for ways to help and we want to help too. We've come up with a cool plan: Give free announcements to our phenomenal musicians, who are streaming live sessions. There are a lot of creative music-makers out there and we need to support them! They have been there for us more than 30 years; Without them, there would be no WNCW. So, let's get to it - Help spread the word!

Joe Greene hangs out with these four Nashville musicians steeped in bluegrass, blues & country. They play Isis in West Asheville Wednesday, and the Blue Bear Mountain Festival in Boone on Friday.

Asheville's "Hard-drivin' Carolina String Band" likes to take their strong bluegrass roots and branch out into influences from the likes of Waylon, Willie & Merle, great covers from the Grateful Dead and Bruce Springsteen, and contemporaries like Tyler Childers, Railroad Earth, and Jim Lauderdale. We're pleased to report Town Mountain has a great new album on the way called New Freedom Blues, and we'll catch up with them Friday amidst their shows in Boone on Thursday, Charlotte on Friday, and Asheville on Saturday.
