Happy Easter! Studio B Rewind Host Kim Clark says we're in for a special show this holiday weekend. 'This ain't no country music for hipsters or posers - it's real.' "That's what No Depression magazine had to say about Sarah Shook & The Disarmers' latest album - Years," said Clark. "You can judge for yourself on the next Studio B Rewind when we hear the live performance recorded in our studio last month."

Raymond Fairchild Creates His Own Style of Playing the Banjo

Bluegrass banjo player Raymond Fairchild of Haywood County, North Carolina, embodies the spirit of originality found in many of the best mountain musicians. He has always done things his own way. His “Fairchild” style has gained countless admirers over the course of a long music career. Raymond has played many times at the Grand Ole Opry, and recorded more than 20 albums—two of which have sold more than a million copies each.

In the past few years Fireside Collective has been invited to perform at almost every major festival that exists, including MerleFest, Mountain Song, FloydFest and Telluride. There's a reason - they are fantastic, fun musicians. Our Sound Engineer, Sean Rubin, saw their magic last July when they played LIVE in Studio B, and immediately asked them to work on a WNCW Fundraiser Project.

WNCW's Martin Anderson spent an hour with Rodney Dillard and Beverly Cotten-Dillard, who were in the area for a rather rare show with their bandmates, carrying on the tradition of The Dillards. First, they co-hosted our weekly "Ten O'Clock Doc" set, as Beverly and Rodney have many great stories about pickin' and dinin' with Doc & Merle back in the day.

He was a musician and actor on the beloved Andy Griffith Show, he's been inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Association Hall of Fame, and he's revered as a cornerstone of both country rock and progressive bluegrass. Rodney Dillard still keeps quite a busy schedule, which includes a show with his band at The Grey Eagle on Monday night. Rodney visits with Martin on Monday morning following the Ten O'Clock Doc spotlight on Doc Watson.

According to Studio B Rewind Host Kim Clark, we've got a blockbuster show this weekend and the action begins at 7pm. "From the archives, we'll have Robert Walter's 20th Congress in session at the old Asheville, NC Music Zone in 2001," said Clark.  "Also, in remembrance of the late Peter Tork, we'll hear him and his band Shoe Suede Blues in Studio B in 2005.

The Steep Canyon Rangers performed live on our airwaves this past January, just as they were re-emerging from a well-deserved rest following a busy and successful year of touring on their own, as well as with Steve Martin.

Della Mae Live Thursday, February 28th between 3 & 4pm

Feb 25, 2019

They've brought their unique blend of bluegrass and Americana to some 18 countries representing the U.S. State Department, and they've got a terrific new release of material. Just back from the big Wintergrass Festival outside Seattle, WA, we're excited to welcome Della Mae to Studio B on their way to their Thursday evening show in Brevard.

Singer-songwriters Milan Miller and Thomm Jutz will visit Studio B this Saturday Feb. 23 in the 1pm hour around their shows in Lenoir on Friday and in Mars Hill on Saturday night.

Look who's coming back! One of the sweetest couples in contemporary bluegrass, and one of THE voices in Newgrass, for a wonderful union of talent and spirit.
