Since the day it was announced, western North Carolinians and music lovers nationwide have been anxiously awaiting the kick off of the innaugural Strings & Suds Festival, as have WNCW friends, fans and staff members. Now, the wait is over - the festivities begin on Friday, August 23 at 7pm at The Pisgah Brewing Company in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Yes please.

We got to to know Boone-based singer/songwriter Shay Martin Lovette around 2017, and this year he won one of MerleFest's Chris Austin Songwriting Competitions. He's also won in Telluride's Troubadour Songwriting Competition. He plays Park Rhythms at Lake Tomahawk Park in Black Mountain, NC Thursday evening, and Reevestock in Elkin, NC on Saturday.

It's Spring LEAF time friends - the festival of great music, fun, food, drink, dance and world culture! The theme this year is "Breaking Ground" and LEAF's Artistic Director Ehren Cruz explains it best:

For almost a quarter of a century, lovers of music, the arts, nature, camping and the power to strengthen community, have gathered together in Black Mountain, NC for the Spring and Fall Festivals at Lake Eden. WNCW has been a long time friend and supporter of LEAF. This year, our DJs Martin Anderson and Renee Denton will be emceeing at the event - and, as always, we'll have amazing volunteers at our WNCW tent.
