Ellenboro Fiddlers and Bluegrass Convention Celebrated its 30th Anniversary
Located in Rutherford County, NC is the small, friendly town of Ellenboro. Ellenboro continues a long tradition involving popular music in the area with its annual Fiddlers and Bluegrass Convention. The event just celebrated its 30th anniversary. Event representative Ronald Hawkins dropped by WNCW on Nov. 12, 2021, just prior to this year's event.

Asheville Citizen Times Reporter Discusses Buncombe County Deputy On Trial And North Carolina's New Voting District 13
Asheville Citizen Times City and County Reporter, Joel Burgess, returned to More to the Story for details about a Buncombe County deputy being on trial after video footage from a traffic stop. The video triggered the County's Sheriff's office to release the officer. Burgess also went over the latest concerning redistricting in N.C. voting that involves U.S. Rep. Remembering Arvil Freeman
Of all the fiddlers in the fiddler-rich region of Western North Carolina, Arvil Freeman was a veritable North Star of Western North Carolina fiddling and traditional music as a whole. Arvil is likely the most heard “in-person” fiddler and likely the most influential. On October 21, 2021, Western North Carolina lost fiddling legend Arvil Freeman.

The “Turtle and the Turkey ”, also known as, “How the Turkey got his Beard?” is a traditional Native American - Cherokee story. Nancy Basket helped form the first modern basketry guild in Seattle in 1980, moved to SC ten years later. She makes pine needle and kudzu baskets large and miniature, lamp shades, paper designs, kudzu cloth, and large 8′ sculptures depicting Cherokee stories.

David Weintraub, local filmmaker of over forty documentary films, with The Center for Cultural Preservation in Hendersonville, signed a deal with PBS to distribute four of his films to public television stations across the nation.
