Writers are encouraged to meet at Mountains Branch Library in Lake Lure on the third Thursday of every month at 10:30am to share their work and offer feedback and ideas with other writers! No registration is needed.

The Jazz Showcase is curated by esteemed pianist, scholar, and UNC Asheville music professor Dr. Bill Bares; this showcase series is dedicated to bringing the region’s finest jazz musicians and most compelling sounds to our stage in a true listening room experience.

When disco diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a crime, she hides out in the last place anyone would look — a convent. Suddenly, the sequins are swapped for habits, and the nightclub turns into a nave. But when Deloris brings her unholy amount of soul to the choir loft, heaven gets a whole new groove.

Sister Act is a holy-rolling, soul-lifting celebration of sisterhood, second chances, and songs that raise the roof. As Deloris helps the sisters find their voices, they just might change her heart in return.

Part divine comedy, part disco revival, it’s proof that a little funk — and a lot of faith — can turn any sanctuary into a showstopper.

This special gathering honors 45 years of festival traditions at one of WNC’s most treasured places. Reconnect and celebrate the music, creativity, and community that have made Lake Eden feel like home for generations. The weekend also marks the debut of the printed 1st edition Book, Live Life Like a Festival,  honoring the people, traditions, and spirit that have brought us together over the years.

Intentionally limited in size, the Lake Eden Reunion creates space and to reconnect with old friends, be fully present, and dream together. Special partners include The Grey Eagle Music Hall and Beloved Asheville.

Join us for the Irene Wortham Fall Festival on Saturday, October 17, 2026, for a fun-filled day of family-friendly activities and community connection!
