Asheville Longest Running stand up comedy Open mic, The Disclaimer Stand Up lounge now At Third Room.
Disclaimer Comedy has been producing comedy shows in Asheville for over a decade. Bringing in the likes of Rory Scovel, Hannibal Burress, Tom Segura, and more. But, The Disclaimer's Pride and Joy has always been "The Disclaimer Stand Up Lounge Comedy Open-Mic". A sign up, go up open mic. With a wild roster of Asheville comics, Traveling comics, FIRST TIMERS, comics on Netflix, Comedy Central, Dry Bar, Don't tell, to comics who have probably been on COPS a few times. It's a real grab bag variety show, and home to a lot of talented creators in the southeast.

A Multi-Media Journey of Resilience, Fiber Art, and Painting by Julie Miles

Three summers ago, in a lightkeeper’s house-turned-museum off the coast of Maine, Julie Miles was asked a simple but piercing question: “Who are you outside of your family?”
“Made of This” is her answer.
After an eight-year hiatus from painting to support her family through her husband’s early-onset Parkinson’s diagnosis, Miles returns to her artistic practice with work rooted in resilience, devotion, and rediscovery. What began as an homage to her farming grandparents evolved into an immersive exploration of material, labor, and belonging.
For this body of work, Miles learned to process and spin raw wool, dye fibers with plants over an open fire, and weave twill cloth on a vintage four-shaft loom. She turned to pinhole photography to create self-portraits in the landscapes of her Michigan youth—beaches, open fields, and rural expanses that echo memory and identity.
Blending fiber, photography, and painting, “Made of This” honors both the harshness and tenderness of life. It invites viewers to dwell in the quiet space where grief and joy coexist, where materials “dictate” their own becoming, and where loving it all—labor, loss, beauty, play—leads to a life well lived.

The word craft-itarianism was coined by 2026 Center for Craft Curatorial Fellow Alyssa Velazquez to name artistic projects that generate employment, raise awareness, or offer therapeutic support through craft. These programs provide a space where people affected by addiction, incarceration, and gun violence can find solidarity while learning a skill.

Craft-itarianism: Community Action Through Craft celebrates nonprofits and artists who believe in—and actively practice—the power of craft to support and empower individuals and communities.

This exhibition was curated by 2026 Center for Craft Curatorial Fellow Alyssa Velazquez. Launched in 2017, the Curatorial Fellowship supports emerging curators exploring new ideas about craft with mentorship, professional development, and a $5,000 honorarium to realize an exhibition.

This is an exhibition of multiple artists works as they pertain to the interpretation of relationships between color and mood. Consider the emotional power of color and the way it evokes story, atmosphere and meaning. This exhibition hopes to reveal a playful and experimental interaction through color's ability to shape perceptions and influence emotions. 

Resources For Resilience is an Asheville-based nonprofit organization sharing practical tools and research-based resources for individuals, teams, and communities to manage stress and prevent burnout.

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, we are offering FREE educational programming, workshops, and trainings.

Chris McGinnis writes songs that exist somewhere between a hiccup and a heartache. His most recent EP, Songs For You, touches on the peculiarity of your hometown morphing beyond recognition. It tells the story of two Baby Boomers falling in and out of love across time zones and decades. It's about connection and disconnection alike. With the release of his debut full-length album Mamaw's Angel, Chris veers deeper into these familiar themes. Through tales of stolen Winnebagos and hip-shaking grandbabies, Chris' music is Appalachian absurdity for the 21st Century.

Historical Seditions is excited to release its first original book based on over five years of original research ranging from archives to historic newspapers: Deconstructing Settler Socialism. Join us for an hour long presentation of the book and underlying research, followed by Q&A based discussion.

Dive deep into the 19th century origins of anarchism and communism amid the genocidal settler colonial context of the "wild west." The book's focal point is the uncomfortable legacy of local sections of the International Workingmen's Association (aka the "First International") and a home-grown West Coast revival International that emerged a decade following the (in)famous split between Marx and Bakunin.

Geographically, much of the story is split between San Francisco and the Salish Sea in the Pacific Northwest but expands to encompass broader "Western North America" from Sacramento and Eureka in California to Denver and Rock Springs, WY in the Mountain West, to British Columbia in the North and Sinaloa, Mexico to the South, tying in global connections across both the Pacific and Atlantic. Critical light is shed on the history of "cooperative colony" land projects amid ongoing Indigenous land theft and the foundational role anti-Chinese racism played in constructing a white settler labor movement.
