The Southern Highland Craft Guild invites visitors to experience daily craft demonstrations at the Folk Art Centerfrom March through December. Every day from 10am-4pm, two artists of differing media will explain anddemonstrate their craft with informative materials displayed at their booth. These free educational events are open to the public.
FROM THE ARTIST Scott Dergins
In the last year, Scott has been sketching and painting nearly every day for fun and relaxation in the evening. This has created a new way of sharing and also selling his creations.Scott develops rough sketches on illustration board using acrylic paint and highlighting the artwork with pen and ink. Inspiration comes from the study of abstract artists, especially Calder, Miro, Picasso and Mondrian and the love of Mid Century Modern architectural style!Scott is a Graduate of Kendall College of Art & Design, professional furniture designer, Morganton, Nc.There are showings and sales at The Burke Arts Council and Vintage Blue in Hickory. The attached are a few images of Scott's work. All are original, framed and matted.

Join the Asheville Jazz Orchestra on Memorial Day for a concert to celebrate America and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our nation. The AJO will be playing all afternoon, performing great big band charts from the 40's to the present day, and will intermingle those with patriotic tunes to honor those who have served.
