Southern Songs & Stories - Walking 100 Miles Through Barbed Wire To Get To The Reservoir: Kenny Roby
Make no mistake, Kenny Roby has turned in one of the most emotional and raw records of 2020. But listening to his fifth solo album The Reservoir, it is…

Studio B Rewind CATIE CURTIS Plus CALEB KLAUDER & REEB WILLMS Fri. - Jan. 19 at 6pm With Kim Clark
We'll hear Catie Curtis talk about philosophy and good works, and perform songs from all through her career in a session from 2010. We'll also cut a rug…
Monday 5/25: The New Quintet – Some Ya Do, Some Ya Don’t
Traditional folk tunes, original compositions by member Nicholas Edward Williams, who recently moved to Asheville, banjo and clarinet together… this album is right up WNCW’s alley. Cody Ray (Guitar, Lap Steel, Bass, Vocals), Emma Dubose (Fiddle, Vocals), Nicholas Edward Williams (Guitar, Banjo, Vocals), Jade Watts (Upright Bass, Guitar, Vocals) & Gordon Inman (Clarinet, Vocals). Upcoming shows of theirs in our area include the Martha Bassett Show in Elkin on Thursday June 4th, and Leveller Brewing in Weaverville on Friday June 5th. (By the way, we air The Martha Bassett show on Saturdays at 6am and Wednesdays at 1am.)
Studio B Rewind COL. BRUCE HAMPTON and I DRAW SLOW Friday, May 12 at 6pm With Host Kim Clark
We pay homage to the late, great Col. Bruce Hampton by listening to him in Studio B with the Quark Alliance back in September 2007. The conversation gets…
Tuesday 8/23: Jeff Coffin – Between Dreaming And Joy
The saxophonist/composer for Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Dave Matthews Band, and his own Mu’Tet has 8 bassists, 6 drummers, 5 guitarists, and 4 keyboardists here, not to mention Middle Eastern frame drums, a Hungarian tarogato, an African ngoni, soda bottles, and an ice cream truck. (Perhaps there’s a kitchen sink somewhere, too?) As you might expect, this transcends any one genre or two. Fellow musicians include Felix Pastorius, Chris Wood, Robben Ford, and Marcus King. So many reasons why we at WNCW love this!

Thursday @ 8pm: Whitehorse – I’m Not Crying, You’re Crying
Ontario’s Melissa McClelland and Luke Doucet have pivoted from a blues and rock sound to their love of classic country on this one. They chose the universality and simplicity of the genre’s storytelling to address the challenges that the pandemic of these past couple years has brought on, like heartbreak and loyalty. Luke and Melissa have picked up five consecutive JUNO Award nominations in three different genre categories; there’s no reason why this great one won’t net them #6!
