Miss Caldwell County -- Pageants And Community Service Work Hand In Hand
Miss Caldwell County, NC, Jamie Logan, joined The Friday Feature to talk about the experience of taking part as a contestant in a beauty pageant and how it can become a rewarding experience as you give back to others. In 2026, Jamie will take part in a number of events as she makes appearances and donates her time and talents to help within the Caldwell County community and across the state. She called it a way to help make a difference. Jamie will also compete for the Miss North Carolina title next summer. This interview originally aired in early December.

A Hung Jury Trial In The Western North Carolina Mountains Involved An Officer Shooting
Reporter Kyle Perrotti of Smoky Mountain News joined WNCW after two weeks of court in Macon County, N.C., led to a mistrial in what's known as the Knibbs case. The 2018 case involved a Macon County Deputy who shot Michael Scott Knibbs, who later passed away. Knibbs' family and their attorneys said the shooting was unnecessary. Kyle describes the trial as complicated.

South Carolina has the highest share of counties and residents of any state in the nation, in which citizens have debt to be collected. A Unique Father and Son Film Critics Duo In North Carolina Talk Oscars, Critic Groups, and Their Love of the Movies
Film Critics, Noel Manning (the Dad) and Thomas Manning (the son) are both graduates of Gardner-Webb University, who love going to the movies. Both are members of the North Carolina Film Critics Association and co-host the cable TV and radio film reviews program, "Meet Me at the Movies". They dropped by in time to preview the 95th Annual Oscars.

Doc McClintock
Doc McClintock is a folk singer-songwriter born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia. Her songwriting is deeply influenced by her experience living on the fringes of rural Appalachia with a focus on addiction, loss, queerness and working class struggle. She ignites a fusion of rowdy traditional Appalachian string music and introspective folk.
Chanell Burnette
Chanell Burnette is a newly returning citizen to Roanoke after serving 19 years in an Appalachian Virginia prison. She is a mother to two, and a grandmother to three. She is an author and her mission is to bring awareness to the suffering endured behind bars in hopes that people will remember our shared humanity.
