John Fowler will welcome the Crescent Moon Rounders live in the air studio during the 4:00pm hour this Sunday on This Old Porch.
The Crescent Moon Rounders, in its current configuration, has been performing together at musical festivals in North Carolina for over a dozen years, Reid Ringer, the fiddler from Saluda, South Carolina, and Rob Morrison, from Chapel Hill, have played in various bands together for over 30 years. Ray Owens, from Charlotte, has come from a mixture of bands from Asheville to Charlotte, before he joined the Rounders. As a young man, Reid visited and played with legendary South Carolina fiddlers, Bo Norris, Pappy Sherill, and Vernon Riddle, to collect tunes and preserve many of the dance tunes you hear on Supper. Rob also not only played with some of the great North Carolina banjo players like Kyle Creed and Fred Cockerham but he has spent a lifetime preserving wonderful fiddle and banjo tunes that are on the “endangered list.”
