Wednesday 3/29: Sami Braman – The Riveter
Sami Braman has been playing the fiddle since she was 6 years old, among the music festivals and jamming communities of the Pacific Northwest’s vibrant traditional old-time music scene. At 8 she and her long-time musical buddies Leo Shannon and Riley Calcagno formed The Onlies (with Vivian Leva joining a few years later.) Sami recently moved to Nashville to pursue music full-time, and we’re excited about this new solo debut album of fiddle-based instrumentals that draws upon traditions from Appalachia to Ireland, Cape Breton to Norway. It will be officially released on Friday
Thursday at 8pm: Willie Nelson – I Don’t Know a Thing About Love
Hard to believe the Red Headed Stranger is turning 90 next month, yet here he is releasing yet another fine album – his 15th or so in the past 10 years! What’s his secret?!? Well, he might list a few things he credits… but one must certainly be his deep love for great songs and great songwriters. His latest collection is a tribute to another favorite of his, the late Harlan Howard.
Monday 1/20: Eugenie Jones – Eugenie
This is the 6th album from jazz singer Eugenie Jones, and is released on Monday the 20th. The album was recorded in New York and Seattle, with a lineup of 16 musicians: Pianists Brandon McCune and Darrius Willrich, saxophonists Rico Jones and Alex Dugdale, and violinist Yoojin Park are just a few of the artists who contributed. Original tunes are intermixed with ones by Duke Ellington, Nina Simone, Peggy Lee, and Marvin Gaye among others. Jones also does other work in the music world: She’s a promoter and marketer, was the founder and Executive Producer at Music For A Cause, and is a volunteer board member for public radio station KNKX in Washington!
