Thursday 10/28: Sierra Ferrell – Long Time Coming
After a few years spent busking on the streets of Seattle and New Orleans, Sierra Ferrell has moved to Nashville, and finally released her debut album that is a refreshing blend of swing, bluegrass, old-time, and, well, her own sound! She’s garnered over 6 million YouTube views, and quite a few radio spins too. Every few years, all of us at WNCW seem to unite in excitement for a particular new artist’s debut. Wednesday, 9/21: The Claudettes – The Claudettes Go Out!
This is the 6th release from this Chicago-based piano-powered roots-pop band. Captivating singer Berit Ulseth is joined by pianist Johnny Iguana, who was a member of blues legend Junior Wells’ band, and the rest of this tight band, with producers Ted Hutt (Violent Femmes, Old Crow Medicine Show) and Anthony Gravino (Charlie Hunter, Kurt Elling); and it’s mixed by Kevin Killen (David Bowie, U2, Elvis Costello).
Wednesday 1/18: Eddie 9V - Capricorn
This Georgia native started his love affair with the blues of Freddie King, Albert Collins and Michael Bloomfield at age 15, before spreading out to include Memphis soul. Lately he’s been impressing fans in our area with his 6-piece band appearances at the Albino Skunk Festival in Greer. This new album, named after Capricorn Studios in Macon, Georgia (Allman Brothers Band, Otis Redding), might be his major breakthrough.
