In our 2nd "Wicked Wednesday" Barrel-House Session from Wicked Weed Brewing's Funkatorium in Asheville, Martin Anderson talks with the band Brushfire Stankgrass, who's back and has some new songs to share with us -- including a great new state anthem for NC!
He may hail from Western NC's Swannanoa Valley, but Turchi's strongest musical influence is steeped in the North Mississippi Hill Country. He plays Swannanoa's Native Kitchen Thursday evening, and French Broad Brewery in Asheville on Saturday. Perhaps with his Kudzu Choir?
Named after frontman Jeremy Davis' father, this Charlotte band was formerly more of an indie rock band under the name Elonzo. Davis now performs with a string band. After Studio B Friday morning, they head to CLT's Live on the Green for an evening with Front Country. They also play Boone on Saturday, and Saluda, NC on Thursday the 30th.
They're one of our favorite new Appalachian-inspired stringbands, and they're from Toronto, Ontario! The Slocan Ramblers' latest album Queen City Jubilee has fast become one of our favorites of the year, and they are in the area for this weekend's Jam in the Trees in Black Mountain.
