Nick Payne's poignant, romantic play Constellations explores fate, quantum mechanics, soul mates, cosmology…and bees.

Directed by Catherine Gillet and starring Aaron Ybarra and Michelle Newman, Shakespeare & Friends presents this touching play in the intimate performance space of the Tryon Depot for only two performances.

Constellations follows physicist Marianne (Michelle Newman) and beekeeper Roland (Aaron Ybarra) through their romantic relationship. Marianne often waxes poetic about cosmology, quantum mechanics, string theory and the belief that there are multiple universes that pull people's lives in various directions. We watch the outcomes of different universes-some hilarious, some heartbreaking-come to life, as Marianne and Roland move through the multiverse together. Nick Payne’s clever and poignant script shows scenes repeat and overlap as we see just a few of Marianne and Roland’s intertwined fate.
