Monday Night Feb. 2nd at 8pm: GRAHAM NASH - Songs For Beginners

Each of the solo debuts from bandmates David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash were released within a year of each other, and are stellar, and are fairly different from one another, too. Nash's is the most instrospective and songwriter-oriented, with the predominant theme that of the emotions swirling around his head following the breakup of his famed relationship with Joni Mitchell. The album is book-ended by his most famous tunes on it, "Military Madness" and "Chicago", but if you are not familiar with the eight songs in between, you owe it to yourself to get to know them. "I Used to Be a King" is an interesting follow-up to a song he wrote during his time with The Hollies, "King Midas in Reverse". "Simple Man" he wrote with Rita Coolidge on the afternoon of his breakup with Mitchell. Guests on the album include Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh, Dave Mason, David Lindley, Bobby Keys, Crosby, and Neil Young (under the pseudonym "Joe Yankee", on organ and piano). Celebrate Graham's birthday today with this memorable debut!
