Taylor Swift buys back the rights to her first 6 albums
The pop star's early catalog was acquired in 2019 and sold again in 2020, igniting a years-long saga in which Swift set out to re-record new versions of the albums to compete with the originals.
Special counsel proposes a trial date for Trump Jan. 6 case
The special counsel's office has proposed that a federal judge set Jan. 2, 2024 as the start of former President Donald Trump's trial on charges related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
Monday 4/25: Charley Crockett – Lil’ G.L. Presents: Jukebox Charley
He achieved the rare distinction of ranking TWO albums in WNCW’s Top 100 last year. There’s no doubt his genuine reverence for that classic sound of Nashville’s golden era of Country music resonates, perhaps especially thanks to his “Gulf & Western” sound of blues, Cajun, and western swing from his Texas/Louisiana/Gulf Coast origins. Crockett shines once again with this fourth installment in his “Lil’ G.L. Presents” series, with renditions of Jerry Reed, George Jones, Tom T. Hall, and others.
Wednesday 2/22: The Infamous Stringdusters – A Tribute to Flatt & Scruggs
The innovative, genre-expanding Bluegrass band from Colorado and beyond has followed up their Top 100 album “Toward the Fray”, and a tribute to Bill Monroe before that, with this one that hits close to home! “The concept of paying tribute to the Grandfathers or originators of Bluegrass is one we bounced around for a while, and after Bill Monroe, the most logical, I think any bluegrass musician would agree, is Flatt & Scruggs,” says Stringdusters bassist (and Brevard resident) Travis Book. “They're legendary, and without (Flint Hill native) Earl's banjo, Bluegrass just doesn't exist the way we know it today.”

Wednesday 7/29: Ranky Tanky – This Village
Since forming in 2016, when Quentin Baxter, Quiana Parler, Charlton Singleton, Clay Ross, and Kevin Hamilton—all seasoned musicians from the Charleston, South Carolina area—decided to form this band, Ranky Tanky has earned acclaim for their interpretations of Gullah spirituals and original music that pulls from jazz and folk traditions. They’ve certainly put the rich traditions of the Gullah Geechee people of the South Carolina and Georgia coast on the musical map for many across the country. Their self-titled 2017 debut topped Billboard’s jazz chart, while the 2019 album Good Time won a Grammy for Best Regional Roots Music Album—the first time an album of Gullah music received the honor. We loved hosting them in Studio B back in 2022. They return to our area for a Charlotte show on Saturday, September 12th.
