World Premier of Carolina Blue's Newest Album

Bobby Powell and Tim Jones of Carolina Blue visited with Host Joe Greene on Saturday, May 6 during Goin' Across the Mountain.  They sample tracks from their new release Sounds of Kentucky Grass, making it the "world premier" of these songs on their new project.  Bobby and Tim discuss family ties to the album, reminisce about playing at WNCW's Goin' Across the Mountain Live earlier this year, and also about the old sound their band is proud to keep going.

Red, White and Bluegrass Festival Giveaway Package

Lorraine Jordan has found great success in the bluegrass world, whether as a co-founder of the Daughters of Bluegrass, or with her current group Carolina Road. She received the SPBGMA “Entertainer of the Year and Traditional Female Vocalist” in 2015, and her banjoist Ben Greene won Banjo Player of the Year. Josh Goforth, Tommy Long, and Jason Moore round out the band, and they've been recording and touring a lot with country greats Eddy Raven, John Anderson, & other Country stars this year.

Alternately known as the King of Telluride and the King of Newgrass, at age 57 Sam Bush has already been honored with a lifetime achievement award by the Americana Music Association and the International Bluegrass Music Association. Before his show on Saturday at The Foundation on the campus of Isothermal Community College in Spindale, NC, he will stop by the station during Goin' Across the Mountain on Saturday at 2:30pm for an interview.

John Felty Co-Producer of The Mountain Song Festival in Brevard will stop by in the Noon hour to talk about the 10th Anniversary Edition coming up September 10th-11th-12th, 2015.

Author, performer and record label owner Gary Reid joins host Tom Pittman on Goin' Across the Mountain this Saturday afternoon in the 4 o'clock hour, ahead of his theatrical performance "A Life of Sorrow, the Life and Times of Carter Stanley" later this month in Asheville.

WNCW presents Goin' Across The Mountain LIVE with Balsam Range and guests Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver and Mountain Faith on January 16, 2015 at 7pm.  Tickets are $20 and the performance will be at the Foundation Performing Arts Center in Spindale, NC.  Click here for more information or to purchase tickets.
