RootStock is the brainchild of Saint Paul Mountain Vineyard owner, Alan Ward. He had the idea for this festival after hearing of musicians’ struggles in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Musicians lost income not just in the immediate aftermath of the storm, but there are venues that are no longer in existence, and in other cases, businesses have had to put a hold on their live music while they recover. Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards, a long-time local music venue in Hendersonville, is putting on this festival with the idea of bringing the community together and celebrating the local musicians and businesses that make this town so special.
Early in the planning stages, Saint Paul Farms partnered with Izzi Hughes, owner of Hummingbird Entertainment, LLC, to assist in music booking, festival logistics and marketing, and stage managing/emceeing the event. “Saint Paul holds a very special place in my heart - they were the first venue to book me for a paid show at 14-years-old. They have always been incredibly supportive of local music in Hendersonville, and it’s my honor to partner with them all these years later on this festival that is showcasing our local talent,” Hughes says.
