Tania Elizabeth - 3/8/25

Grammy and Juno Award Winner, Tania Elizabeth returns to Hendersonville and Continuum Art for another session of amazing folk music on the heels of her recent album Storm Season. Tania joins us with Mike Miz on guitar and Jimmy Lopez on percussion for her last performance before heading back on tour with The Avett Brothers.

As fiddle player for the Avett Brothers, founder of The Duhks, accompanist for Mary Gauthier and as a session player, Tania Elizabeth has spent two decades shaping the arc of modern-day roots music. She refocuses the spotlight on her own music with Storm Season, a solo album whose sonic textures are as dynamic and diverse as the songwriter who created them. “I’ve always backed other people,” she says. “I’m really good at supporting other musicians and holding down the fort so they can shine, but I’ve rarely had anybody else hold that space for me. With Storm Season, I’m investing in myself for the first time.”

Cody Gentry opens for Tania Elizabeth. Born and raised in Upstate SC, the first song Cody Gentry ever learned the lyrics to was "Please Don't Bury Me" by John Prine. From there, Cody began writing and performing his own songs influenced by the towering country and folk performers of times past such as Guy Clark, Ted Hawkins, and Townes Van Zandt. His affection for history through storytelling along with the writings of Flannery O'Connor, David Joy, and Larry Brown have blended with his unique sound to create a wholly original illustration of true Americana. He has shared the stage with many bands and individuals including the songwriting legend and musical mentor David Childers. When asked what kind of music he plays, Cody cheekily breaks into Roger Miller's classic tune: "Funny I don't fit. Where have all the average people gone?"
