Pack Library Pollination Celebration! Film Fest - 6/1/24
Bee City USA-Asheville is collaborating with Pack Library to present the Pollination Celebration! Film Fest. Here is the schedule: June 1— “Wings of Life,” June 4—“My Garden of a Thousand Bees,” June 8—“Hometown Habitat, Stories of Bringing Nature Home,” June 11—“Flight of the Butterflies.” These films are the perfect outing for families and film enthusiasts alike to meet and mingle with conservation experts.
Narrated by Meryl Streep, “Wings of Life,” is cinematographer Louie Schwartzberg’s love letter to pollinators. Dr. Stephen Buchmann, keynote presenter for Pollination Celebration 2024, was Chief Scientist on the film! “My Garden of a Thousand Bees” is the result of wildlife cameraman Martin Dohrn’s COVID-19 2020 lockdown experience. He filmed more than 60 species of bees in all shapes and sizes in his own Bristol, England, back yard. “Hometown Habitat” explores how everyday people are putting the lessons of sought after speaker and author, Doug Tallamy, into practice to bring nature home. “Flight of the Butterflies” follows the monarchs’ perilous journey to join millions of real butterflies in the remote mountain peaks of Mexico, with award-winning cinematography. It’s the true story of an intrepid scientist’s 40-year search to find the monarchs’ secret hideaway.
