Magnolia Steel + The Deluge - Sat, Oct 22
Magnolia Green is a roots-rock band of brothers hailing from the Triad area of North Carolina, featuring veteran singer/songwriter/producer Doug Davis (Vagabond Saints' Society, Mediocre Bad Guys, The Plaids), drummer Les Slate (Mediocre Bad Guys), and highly sought-after pedal steel man, Rick Nathey, along with pianist/songwriter, Jack Gorham, and bassist/songwriter, Adam Bennett. The band was originally conceived after Doug and Jack shared the stage at a VSS tribute to the Band’s Last Waltz show, where Doug was captured by the idea of assembling a band of equals, with multiple singers and songwriters contributing together to create its own distinct style. The band brings a lifetime of experience to its soulful, roots-rock/ Americana original tunes and boasts an impressive catalog of like-minded covers. Magnolia Green has recently shared the stage with Cracker, the Smithereens, and Fastball.
NC-based The Deluge debut record Cryin' on the Vine, features the song "Strange World,' which won best R&B song of 2010 from the international John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Their second release Elephant Graveyard features the talents of Kofi Burbridge (Tedeschi/Trucks Band) and showcases the group's vast musical range, capturing moments of spinster storytelling to raw and unfettered revelry. Matteo Recchio from Big Daddy Love, joins on guitar.
