Folkmoot LIVE! is pleased to present Las Montañitas bringing the Andes to the Appalachians. Drawing heavily from the Chicha Cumbia scene that emerged in Peru in the late 1960s, featuring psychedelic surf guitar tone, Afro-Colombian dance grooves, and Andean inspired melodies.

One of Asheville’s newest and most exciting bands, Las Montañitas includes members of Black Sea Beat Society, Empire Strikes Brass, Mar and the Marmeladies and Juan Benavides Group.

Las Montañitas features: Mar - vocals, charango, flute, guiro; Sparrow Smith - accordion, vocals; Keith Josiah Smith - guitar, timbales; JP Furnas - bass; Sully Martinez - congas, bongos and Ben Colvin - saxophone.
