Billy Jonas Band "Welcome the New Year!" Family Concert at The Grey Eagle - 12/31
At 1pm on Wednesday, December 31, the Billy Jonas Band invites listeners of all ages to the Grey Eagle for a one hour concert that's become a local tradition. "This is our annual kickoff to the New Year," says Jonas. "The goal is to communally catapult and catalyze ourselves towards all good things for another twelve months."
With their "wild-winded word magic" (Dirty Linen Magazine), homemade "industrial re-percussion" instruments, and exquisite 3-part vocal harmonies, the music of the Billy Jonas Band creates community through song and story.
The Billy Jonas Band loves to engage and delight both young and adult audiences. Whether performing for adults, families, school groups, faith communities, or a mix, they strive for a musical excellence that inspires, entertains, and moves people — literally and figuratively. "We believe in music that energizes both young folks and adults to sing and move along," explains bandleader Billy Jonas, an award-winning musician and longtime Asheville resident.
"Participation is the name of the game," Jonas continues. "We'll sing old songs, new songs, holiday songs, and probably some spontaneous things along the way."
Billy Jonas has taken his unique blend of voice, guitar, and “industrial re-percussion” — instruments made from found, foraged, and recyclable materials — all over the world since 1987. Beloved for his ability to connect with audiences of all ages, Billy has garnered multiple awards, been featured in the New York Times, and more. In 2010, the Billy Jonas Band was invited to perform at the White House!
For this event, the band will feature longtime members Ashley Jo Farmer and Juan Holladay alongside Jonas for a performance that promises to kick off the new year in a big way for attendees of all ages.
In closing, Jonas invites: "come be part of the PLAN — the 'Peace Love Action Network.' We're putting more love in the world one song at a time!"
