Anya Hinkle with Chris Rosser and Jake Wolf - 10/4

Anya Hinkle with Chris Rosser and Jake Wolf - 10/4

Join Asheville-based songwriter Anya Hinkle for an intimate performance rooted in Appalachian tradition and infused with global influences. Known for her vivid storytelling, rich acoustic sound, and arresting honesty, Anya brings to life songs from her acclaimed new album Oceania (Red Parlor Records), produced by Irish veteran Kevin Moloney (U2, Sinéad O’Connor) and featuring Celtic legend John Doyle and Dobro master Billy Cardine. Her music, described as “melodic with rich traditional instincts” (Americana Highways), has captivated audiences from Japan to France to festivals across the U.S.

With a voice praised for its purity and soul, Anya has become a rising force in the Americana and folk scenes. A winner of the USA Songwriting Competition and MerleFest’s Chris Austin Song Contest, her songs have been spotlighted on No Depression and Folk Alley’s “Best Of” lists. Whether performing solo or with past projects like Dehlia Low and Tellico, Hinkle’s music is a deeply satisfying journey through roots, story, and song.

Anya will be joined by Chris Rosser, an Asheville-based multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer. He is known also for his work in the popular world fusion trio Free Planet Radio, playing Indian dotar, sarod, Turkish cumbus oud, melodica, piano and guitar on their five CD releases. He has toured internationally with master Turkish musician Omar Faruk Tekbilek, the Grammy-winning flute virtuoso Rhonda Larson’s ensemble, Ventus, and with the renowned jazz singer Lizz Wright. Rosser earned a Bachelor of Music from the University of Miami School of Music where he studied jazz piano and studio recording. As a singer-songwriter, Rosser has won songwriting contests at the Rocky Mountain Folk Festival and MerleFest, and was a New Folk finalist at Kerrville Folk Festival. His most recent album “Worrying Boy” was released last year.

Finally, Jake Wolf, a skilled and accomplished electric bassist celebrated for his dynamic groove and adaptable musical style, will round out the trio. Originally from Boston, he is a sought-after session musician, touring and recording artist in collaborations with bands and producers nationwide in various genres ranging from jazz and funk to R&B and world music.
