The Southern Highland Craft Guild invites visitors to experience daily craft demonstrations at the Folk Art Centerfrom March through December. Every day from 10am-4pm, two artists of differing media will explain anddemonstrate their craft with informative materials displayed at their booth. These free educational events are open to the public.

Hive Jive, Open Mic, welcomes all ages and any instruments. We are the only sober cafe and bar in WNC. Children are allowed. Sign up begins at 5:15 PM. Play in sequence of the sign up. Minimum 10 minutes of play per musician.Bring your young musical artist, your grandma who still loves playing and singing, and your self to play/practice in front of an audience! Join us for a good time for a sober social gathering.
Bat Cave Wade's hosts local musicians and other creative talent at Lured Market & Grill every other Thursday throughout the year.Find excellent food, an extensive offering of beer, wine and more along with an assortment of local food options at Lured Market & Grill. Their outdoor stage from Lake Lure Beach provides exceptional views of the Hickory Nut Gorge area.

Every Thursday from 6-9pm, reserve a table for a date night planned by Point Lookout! For $45 we will reserve a table for two on our Sunset Terrace, complete with a bottle of wine and one of our specialty charcuterie boards.

FROM THE ARTIST Scott Dergins
In the last year, Scott has been sketching and painting nearly every day for fun and relaxation in the evening. This has created a new way of sharing and also selling his creations.Scott develops rough sketches on illustration board using acrylic paint and highlighting the artwork with pen and ink. Inspiration comes from the study of abstract artists, especially Calder, Miro, Picasso and Mondrian and the love of Mid Century Modern architectural style!Scott is a Graduate of Kendall College of Art & Design, professional furniture designer, Morganton, Nc.There are showings and sales at The Burke Arts Council and Vintage Blue in Hickory. The attached are a few images of Scott's work. All are original, framed and matted.
