"The Mutual Aid Garage" Screening and Panel
This is a screening of a film about The Automotive Free Clinic and founder Zac Hyden. The Automotive Free Clinic was an auto repair shop that repaired vehicles at cost in Prattville, AL.
Following the 14 minute film, a moderated panel will discuss mutual aid and repair as it pertains to the rise of fascism and techno-feudalism. The panel will be approximately an hour and forty-five minutes long and is aimed toward a broad discussion of rebuilding social and community institutions that create leaders concerned with more than their own personal ambitions and power.
Zac Hyden holds a PhD from Berkeley and five Automotive Service Excellence certifications. He has been a community organizer in Auburn, AL, Asheville, NC, Birmingham, AL, and Montgomery, AL. He is the founder and emeritus executive director of The Automotive Free Clinic, the lead organizer of the Educational and Economic Resource Organizing Network, and president and CEO of Hank’s Industries. The Automotive Free Clinic has also been covered by Lux Magazine, a socialist-feminist magazine.
