St. James’ Harmonies of Hope—A Concert to Feed Hendersonville’s Hungry featuring Molasses Creek - 4/27

St. James Episcopal Church in Downtown Hendersonville introduces Harmonies of Hope, a benefit concert to feed Hendersonville's hungry, featuring the award-winning band, Molasses Creek. This event will take place on Saturday, April 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the new Sanctuary Garden Chapel on the church grounds. At 11:00 a.m. grounds open for an early gathering with food trucks and activities for children. Molasses Creek will take the outdoor stage at 12:30 p.m. Funds raised from this event will directly support Interfaith Assistance Ministry (IAM), The Hendersonville Rescue Mission, and The Storehouse, all working diligently to alleviate hunger in Henderson County.

Harmonies of Hope is a new, reimagined version of the longstanding tradition of the Candlemas Concert which has been held annually at St. James for 33 years. This has been a staple event at St. James and will continue to rally the community in support of local hunger relief organizations.

The featured performer for this benefit concert, Molasses Creek, has been captivating audiences for three decades with their powerful performances and heartfelt songwriting. Originating from the coastal home of Ocracoke Island, NC, the band brings a unique blend of elegant harmonies, impressive songwriting, and high-energy instrumentals to their performances. Their music, inspired by the rich tidewater marshes and exotic fig trees of their home island, has earned them a loyal following not just in the United States, but around the world.

Award winners from Garrison Keillor's “Prairie Home Companion,” Molasses Creek has recorded 17 albums, reaching the #4 and #5 spots on the National Folk Radio DJ Charts. Their latest releases, Catch the Wind, Waterbound, and People Get Ready, have received acclaim from audiences across the country. The band is comprised of Gary Mitchell (guitar & vocals), Fiddler Dave Tweedie (fiddle & vocals), Kim France (bass, guitar & vocals), and Gerald Hampton (mandolin).
