St. James Episcopal Church, Hendersonville, presents Choral Evensong- One year after Helene: A Candlelight Service of Remembrance, Renewal, and Hope on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 5:00 p.m.; prelude at 4:40 p.m.

Join us for a moving candlelight service of Choral Evensong, led by The Rev. David Henson, Officiant, with music offered by the St. James Choir, Brad Gee, Conductor, Artist-in-Residence Tate Addis, Organist, and Phillip Haynie, Cantor. This unique musical offering is a chance to reflect, heal, and find peace since Hurricane Helene devastated our area one year ago.

Please arrive at 4:40 p.m. to hear Tate play Three Liturgical Improvisations by George Oldroyd and Chorale Prelude on Eventide by C. Hubert H. Parry for the prelude, during which time you may light a candle and offer prayers. The St. James Choir will sing Lighten our Darkness by Alexander L’Estrange, Preces & Responses by Herbert Sumsion, Evening Service in E by Horatio Parker, and Save Us, O Lord by Edward Bairstow. The closing voluntary will be Grand Choeur in D by William Faulkes. The organ at St. James is a Harrison & Harrison with recent Walker additions.

All are welcome to experience this service of prayer, candlelight, and glorious music. No tickets required.
