Rutherford Quilt Guild from Rutherfordton, NC, will present "Carolina Colors Quilt Show" from Friday, October 13, through Saturday, October 14. The biennial event will be held in the Student Union/Gymnasium of Isothermal Community College in Spindale.

The public is invited to attend and admission is $5. Show hours for Friday and Saturday are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The College is located at 286 ICC Loop Road (off College Avenue) in Spindale, which is about three miles east of Rutherfordton, one of the oldest towns in Western NC.

The judged show will feature more than 150 quilts made by Guild members selecting from several categories. The quilters will use both traditional and modern techniques, including hand-piecing and quilting, machine piecing and quilting, and hand and machine appliqué. Guild members will also have a display of their quilted challenge pieces.

The show will include a Vendor Mall and Member Boutique. Raffles will be held throughout the event.

The Guild’s Raffle Quilt “Misty Mountain Pond” is an outstanding quilt that has been paper pieced and hand appliquéd by guild members, and it was machine free motion quilted by guild member Penny Miller. Tickets are $1 each, six for $5, or twenty-five for $20 and will be sold before the drawing takes place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 14. The winner will be notified by phone if not present.

Proceeds from the quilt show and raffle quilt are used to support the Guild’s community efforts as a 501c(3) charity. In 2023, the guild made and donated Patriotic Quilts to veterans residing in Rutherford County, as well as quilts for Crossnore Communities for Children in Crossnore, NC. The guild also supports the Food Pantry at Rutherfordton First Baptist Church and the local school Back Pack Program; which provides food for insecure school children over weekend gaps.
