Women's Museum in Dallas
Susanne Sprague of member station KERA reports on the opening of the Women's Museum in Dallas, Texas. In addition to achievements, the exhibits tell about tragedy as well. The museum will feature a computer lab that will help young girls learn about possible careers. The museum is the largest of its kind in the nation. (6:13) Credits

Maryland Stops Tobacco Farming
NPR's Adam Hochberg reports that Maryland plans to become the first state to voluntarily stop tobacco farming. The government program would pay farmers for choosing to stop growing tobacco.
101 Snoopys
Euen Kerr of Minnesota Public Radio reports on the popularity of the 101 fiberglass statues of Snoopy that are spread around St. Paul. The city commissioned the representations of Charlie Brown's dog to celebrate the 50th anniversary of native son Charles Shultz's Peanuts comic strip. Many of the statues will be auctioned this weekend, with proceeds going to a Charles Shultz memorial scholarship fund.

World Economy Forecast
The International Monetary Fund's forecast for the world economy will be released tomorrow, a week before the IMF and World Bank meet in Prague. NPR's John Ydstie previews the report, which predicts economic growth in several countries, including the U.S., Russia, and Indonesia.

West Bank Peace Negotiations

Hurricane Gordon
NPR's Phillip Davis reports that hurricane Gordon was downgraded to a Tropical Storm before making landfall. Gordon plowed ashore on Florida's Gulf Coast last night drenching rain and a storm surge with waves over six feet high.
