FOL Author Talk with Terry Roberts
The Friends of Haywood County Public Library welcome local author Terry Roberts, the author of five novels, including A Short Time to Stay Here, That Bright Land, and The Sky Club. He is a native of the mountains of Western North Carolina—born and bred. His ancestors include six generations of mountain farmers, as well as the bootleggers and preachers who appear in his novels.
He has won the Sir Walter Raleigh Award for fiction, a Willie Morris Prize for Southern Fiction, Thomas Wolfe Literary Award and a James Still Award for writing about the Appalachian South. He is also the director of the National Paideia Center, an organization dedicated to “teaching children critical thinking skills and how to speak for themselves.”
The evening will start at 5:30 with drinks and heavy appetizers and time to socialize and browse the silent auction items. The author will speak at about 6:30. The event will be held at the Wells Event Center, off of Main St in Waynesville.
