In one of the more surprising collaborations of late, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong has teamed up with Norah Jones. Equally surprising is the material they decided to focus on: standards of The Everly Brothers canon -- some of their darker, more powerful songs. And as fate would have it Phil Everly passed away on the 3rd of this month, age 74. In what may have been his final interview just weeks before his death, Phil gave his approval for the project: “In the beginning of rock & roll, there was always innovation. Artists were always trying to do something new and something different. And I find that true for Billie Joe Armstrong -- it’s very unusual for him to have done this.”
