TIM O'BRIEN

Two bands featured in Studio B
Lauren Wasmund and Nate Tadlock

A few of our long-time favorite musicians are featured this week. The Tim O'Brien Band was in our studio back in May, playing tunes from the group's recent self-titled album. We'll share music from that multitalented band's session. Plus, we'll feature the music of former Band of Horses lead guitarist and awesome singer-songwriter Tyler Ramsey, who has just released his first solo album in eight years. Stay with us! It all begins at 7pm on Sunday.

Live Friday, May 24th between 4 & 5pm: Tim O'Brien Band

May 18, 2019

We're excited to welcome back one of 'NCW's favorites, this time with his bluegrass band! After first hitting the scene fronting Colorado bluegrass band Hot Rize in the '80's, Tim O'Brien has proven to be one of the most versatile, talented, and prolific of roots music leaders, be it Celtic, old-time, or his own singer/songwriter originals. He's back to his bluegrass roots these days, and Tim & co. play the Grey Eagle on Sunday the 26th.

New album with familiar band from acoustic music mainstay

The 2018 International Bluegrass Music Award Ceremony was held last week in Raleigh, North Carolina at The Duke Energy Center for Performing Arts. The event was hosted by one of WNCW's favorite bands, HOT RIZE. Many of the IBMA musicians are long time friends of our grassroots, listener-powered radio station and we want to take time and congratulate the winners - Job well done!

TIM O'BRIEN
Scott Simontacchi

Whether it's his work with Hot Rize, his sister Mollie O'Brien, his fellow songwriter Darrell Scott, or his countless projects as a producer or sideman, we sure love listening to singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Tim O'Brien. One of our favorites returns to Studio B Wednesday, before his show at the Grey Eagle in Asheville that night. He's got a brand new release, Where the River Meets the Road.
