Live Friday, October 4th between 3 & 4pm: Front Country

Oct 2, 2019

The "string-band pop" of Front Country fits a niche that is appealing to fans of both bluegrass, and the modern soul and rock acts we enjoy playing. Melody Walker, Adam Roszkiewicz, Jacob Groopman, & Jeremy Darrow return to Studio B before their Friday show at Pisgah Brewing Company.  "As exciting a band on stage as they are in the studio, Front Country stands strong and tall in today's American roots music scene." -Woody Platt, Steep Canyon Rangers

It's time for the Mountain Song Festival and folks are gearing up for another incredible music event at one of the most popular venues in western North Carolina, the Brevard Music Center in Brevard, North Carolina. The lineup, as usual, is phenomenal. The host band is a WNCW fave, The Steep Canyon Rangers. The Grammy Award winning group calls "The Land of Waterfalls" home - and, to the delight of music lovers, they play multiple times during the festival. Yes. The amazing, full lineup for the three day event looks like this:

The Steep Canyon Rangers performed live on our airwaves this past January, just as they were re-emerging from a well-deserved rest following a busy and successful year of touring on their own, as well as with Steve Martin.

WILKESBORO, N.C. (Feb. 11, 2019) – MerleFest, presented by Window World, is proud to announce new artist additions for MerleFest 2019: Amos Lee, The Milk Carton Kids, Steep Canyon Rangers, The Del McCoury Band, The Casey Kristofferson Band, and David Holt. The annual homecoming of musicians and music fans returns to the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, April 25-28. MerleFest is pleased to welcome these six distinguished acts to the 2019 lineup:

Our airwaves were filled with some great tunes in 2018.  Out of the more than 39,000 different songs we played last year, here's our Spotify playlist of the 30 most played songs of 2018.  Artists include Steep Canyon Rangers, River Whyless, Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, and several others!

Congrats to the Rangers for ranking #3 in WNCW's Top 100 of 2018! (in good company with the likes of John Prine and Jason Isbell.) And all of the great successes these boys from Brevard and Asheville have experienced the past few years couldn't happen to nicer guys. We welcome them back to their home radio station in advance of their Asheville show Saturday the 19th (with Hiss Golden Messenger!)
