We're excited to share our latest On The Way Up Podcast with you this week! It's hosted by Lauren Wasmund, our WNCW summer intern. She'll take us on a true Americana musical journey with songs from artists like the Fruit Bats from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, to the funkalicious sounds of Kev "Shinyribs" Russell from Austin Texas, followed by a DJ For The Day Segment featuring Ashevillian Julian Pinelli, a local North Carolina master fiddler and free style violinist.

WNCW's new music podcast has lots of great new music featured here, with regional favorites from western NC like Tyler Ramsey and Rising Appalachia, and our segue of the show pairing songs written decades ago which have been covered many times, one of which is a brand new version from Charlie Hunter and Lucy Woodward.  Many of the songs on this podcast are also available on one of our Spotify playlists, titled “WNCW New Music.”

2018’s crop of new music is almost all harvested, but there are plenty of good songs to cook up and put on your podcast plate in this, episode 37 of the show. We’ll feature a couple of retrospective releases, with one from the late Charles Bradley, and another bootleg from Bob Dylan, who is up to volume 14 in that series. We serve up a punk cover by Ty Segall and a segue of the week from the Mekons, a set of new Christmas tunes, and much more.
