Jane Kramer
Vickie Burick

This Asheville singer/songwriter has another lovely release coming out called Valley of the Bones. To quote our own Carol Rifkin, “Jane Kramer is writing and playing classic folk with mountain influences, her strong voice lilting through honest expressions of life, love and the human condition.” She and Chris Rosser & Elliot Wadopian (both of Free Planet Radio) return to Studio B in advance of her album release show at Ambrose West in Asheville on Saturday the 2nd.

Singer/songwriter Vanessa Peters seems to be really hitting her stride with a new album called Foxhole Prayers. "I'm a literature geek at heart and for years I've wanted to do an album somehow influenced by The Great Gatsby, but the idea seemed much to nerdy and abstract. But after I re-read it last year, it dawned on me that we were literally reliving the Gatsby years."  She plays Wednesday in Charlotte, and Thursday in Knoxville (and Italy a week later!)

Paul Cauthen is one of Americana's best new singer/songwriters. We first got to know him when he was a member of the band Sons of Fathers. WNCW 's Music Director Martin Anderson spoke with Cauthen at September's AmericanaFest in Nashville, Tennessee during a morning spent at SoundStage Studios, following a late night showcase with a dozen or more other WNCW favorites musicians. We originally aired the interview on Wednesday, October 3rd, and now you can listen to the PODCAST.

It's Amanda Anne Platt playing some tunes in a solo session and catching us up on the latest with her band the Honeycutters, and a new discovery of ours, Blue Yonder from Charleston, West Virginia, who were in the area last month for a show in Asheville.

In this episode, the new tunes range from singer/songwriter to latin jazz to americana.  Joe features music from Aaron Burdett, Duende Libre, and Dustbowl Revival.  Joe also talks with Jason Lineberger about the art of the record review.
