Forest City, NC Marketing and Events Coordinator - Courtney Ashley was guest of this WNCW Friday Feature Inteview of the Week, as she talked about many of the family friendly events being offered to citizens in and around Rutherford County, NC.  The interview, recorded on Sept. 13, 2019, took place the day before a new event called The Diverse City Festival that was celebrating and unifying cultures and heritages of all kinds.  Ashley also shared info about Sept. 28ths "Pimento Cheese Jubilee,"  held in Forest City, NC at Pavilion on Park Square also known as POPS.

The recent Grammy winner talks about music over the years, his new album, oh and an upcoming Eddie Murphy blaxploitation film he costars in... We'll hear a couple of new recordings he laid down too, from Sound Stage Studios there.

WNCW’s new music podcast features a number of Texans in this episode, ranging from all time WNCW favorites like Rodney Crowell to newcomers like Los Coast," said WNCW Program Director Joe Kendrick. We'll be airing audio clips on Woodstock Day from interviews Martin Anderson recorded with members of the WNCW Community... members who were at Woodstock, groovin' on Max's farm, in 1969. We'll share them all day and into the night TODAY, Friday, August 16, 2019. We'll hear from our friends, long time supporters and Woodstock Alum  Bill Burdett, Al Petteway, Pam Budd and Brad Hunt. We're having a fab time sharing peace and music with you on Grassroots, Listener-Powered Radio WNCW - 88.7 FM.

We got to to know Boone-based singer/songwriter Shay Martin Lovette around 2017, and this year he won one of MerleFest's Chris Austin Songwriting Competitions. He's also won in Telluride's Troubadour Songwriting Competition. He plays Park Rhythms at Lake Tomahawk Park in Black Mountain, NC Thursday evening, and Reevestock in Elkin, NC on Saturday.

More to the Story- Language Access Plan, Charlotte

Members of Charlotte City Council are taking a look at a language access plan, a project brought forward by the city's Immigrant Committee.  Charlotte's WFAE public radio and Reporter Nick de la Canal shared all the details during the segment of More to the Story from April 17, 2019.  Nick goes over such thing as "Why is now the time for a language access plan" and "What does this proposal include and how would it be funded?"
