Live Saturday, July 27th between Noon & 1pm: Backline

Jul 23, 2019

More live bluegrass coming your way from Studio B, as this 5-piece Spartanburg, SC band pays us a visit. As most of the band members grew up in "Mill Hill Towns" such as Pacolet, Glendale, Spartanburg etc., they took their name from a term often used during the booming textile era of our region. Learn more about it, and the band, this Saturday on "Goin' Across the Mountain!"

We've got live music on Saturday during "Goin' Across the Mountain" with Jim & Lynna, an Indiana couple who are in the area for a couple of Upstate SC shows: Hillbilly Days in Mountain Rest on the 4th, and Frank's Coffee & Music in Inman on the 6th. Host Joe Greene will welcome the Woolseys to WNCW Saturday afternoon. Enjoy!

We'll rewind Sunday evening with a session from Grain Thief, a string band from Boston, Massachusetts that sounds a whole lot like Appalachia, playing songs from their album “Stardust Lodge” live in Studio B back in early March 2019. We'll also share a session - a toast to this past MerleFest, with Elephant Sessions. Kim Clark says we'll celebrate a great interview and performance recorded at WNCW with this rockin' Celtic band the day after they departed the stage in Wilkesboro, NC. It's all on Studio B Rewind on Grassroots Radio, WNCW FM 88.7.

Happy Easter! Studio B Rewind Host Kim Clark says we're in for a special show this holiday weekend. 'This ain't no country music for hipsters or posers - it's real.' "That's what No Depression magazine had to say about Sarah Shook & The Disarmers' latest album - Years," said Clark. "You can judge for yourself on the next Studio B Rewind when we hear the live performance recorded in our studio last month."

Studio B Rewind Host Kim Clark says we've got a super lineup for our show this Sunday. We'll revisit a session with Matt Walsh, who has played with blues greats Bob Margolin and Hubert Sumlin. Walsh's latest album is “The Midnight Strain.” He and his band mates played songs from it, live in Studio B, on the eve of its release last year. We'll also feature a session from singer/songwriter Elise Davis, showcasing her new album “Cactus,” in our studio this past November. Studio B Rewind airs every Sunday at 7pm with your Host Kim Clark.

We'll have that session airing again soon on a Studio B Rewind show with Kim Clark. We're getting ready to post our Annual Top 100 Contest next week... could this be one of your top albums played on WNCW in 2018?
